Understand the penalties and remedies prescribed by the FDCPA for violations, enabling you to navigate potential legal consequences effectively. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), approved on September 20, 1977, is a consumer protection amendment, establishing legal protection from abusive debt collection practices to the Consumer Credit Protection Act, as Title VIII of that Act. The Act creates guidelines under which debt collectors may conduct business, defines the rights of consumers involved with debt collectors, and prescribes penalties and remedies for violations of the Act. It’s a federal law that limits the behavior and actions of thirdparty debt collectors who are attempting to collect debts on behalf of another person or entity. It’s important to understand the key elements of the Act as well as updates that have been made recently. During this webinar, Justin will discuss an overview of the FDCPA, its history, provisions, recent updates, and how it came about. Also, how FDCPA relates to all levels of staff.
