Gain an understanding on best prevention and treatment plans for childhood trauma cases.Providers of medical care, across the lifespan, see in their patients the health consequences of childhood adversity. Adverse childhood experiences may have never been screened for or addressed throughout the patient’s life, due to both patient shame and provider discomfort. Compounding the work that ensues after disclosure, there has been a lack of appropriate means for remediating the suffering that occurred, because of the trauma. Evidencebased research has changed that and provided for the identification of effective treatment options, called for now is the commitment of health providers, to screen for and address the needs for appropriate resources for treatment. Trauma informed practice needs to guide each interaction with patients and families. This information is critical to establish an understanding of principles required to ensure for client safety and support for disclosures and connections to trauma treatment.
