Description
Gain an understanding of the proper protocol when client intake and interviews occur.
Many lawyers underestimate the importance of the client intake and interview process. To often too little time is spent meeting and talking with the potential client in order to properly assess whether taking on the new matter is advisable. In many instances, a lawyer is well into a case before he or she realizes there is a significant problem with the case or the client, placing the attorney in an awkward and uncomfortable position of trying to withdraw from the case. A proper and thorough intake, interview and assessment process greatly minimizes this risk, while at the same time providing guidance to the client before it may be too late.
