Description
Ensure compliance with the CARD Act and take proactive steps to stay out in front of CFPB regulations and guidelines. In wake of the Great Recession, Congress passed the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility Disclosure Act of 2009 (the CARD Act). Although a relatively quiet piece of legislation, the CARD Act is one of the most influential consumer finance laws enacted by Congress in the 21st Century. Through its designed purpose to strengthen cardholder protections, this legislation expanded existing consumer safeguards under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA). With a recent bevy of publications, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has placed cardholder protections in their regulatory crosshairs. It is important as ever for creditors to become fluent with the consumer protections under the CARD Act and ensure internal compliance. This presentation will provide a comprehensive summary and understanding of the CARD Act, and walk participants through the protections to cardholders and regulatory requirements. This program will also provide an outlook of the fluidity of the CARD Act’s protections, as well as concurrent issues relating to this consumer space. This presentation is critical for card issuers and creditors to ensure compliance with the CARD Act and take proactive steps to stay out in front of CFPB regulations and guidelines
